Annual Board Meeting

Our Annual Board Meeting has been moved to Monday, January 30th due to the very unpleasant weather forecasted for the evening of Monday January 23rd.. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm at the Stamford Government Center on 888 Washington Blvd. We will meet in the Safety Training Room, 6th floor (left after elevators, end of the hall).

Dr. John E. S. Lawrence will be our featured speaker at the meeting. He has a background fitting the star of an adventure film. His outdoor biography includes exploring remote regions from the Arctic to Antarctic and many back-country and high mountain ranges in-between. His indoor resume is equally impressive with various professorships (currently an adjunct professor at Columbia) and years spent as a consultant to the United Nations. In his spare time, John serves on the Friends Board, researches the history of the Mianus River Park, and plays a mean fiddle.

John will regale us with stories of the park's past and how the land has enchanted many generations. He will also review recent survey results and some of the projects the Friends have completed in 2016.

The presentation promises to be interesting and far ranging. Come and you'll find out which US President visited our park.

Light refreshments will be served. Please join us

Audubon to Study Park

On Tuesday, June 7, Friend's president, David Roberts, spent around three hours in the park with representatives from Audubon as part of a study of the park's trees, shrubs and undergrowth, and of the park's bird life. At a later date, Audubon will provide the Friends with a detailed study as well as recommendation to improve the habitat, with an emphasis on making it more bird and wildlife friendly.
